Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Kyiv is not ready to recognize American assistance within the framework of an agreement with the United States on minerals as a debt. "We will not perceive debts as I have said before. These are absolutely clear things for me. At least we are talking about the past," - said Zelensky.
The administration of Donald Trump reintroduced into the deal over mineral resources a requirement for Ukraine to compensate for all aid provided after Russia's invasion in 2022. Ukraine is ready to reimburse future US assistance if it is provided.
"If there are any prospects, new support, new support packages - then the US can definitely set certain conditions. We understand that this team will not do anything free of charge," - added Zelensky.
The framework agreement between Ukraine and the United States was ready for signing, but in late February, the signing was thwarted due to an incident at the White House.
