Millions of Apple fans hurried to update their iPhones to the newly released iOS 18.4 on Monday. The version includes eight new emojis and additional AI-based features in Apple Intelligence.
Users reported battery issues following the upgrade. User X @OldAppleTech described his iPhone's battery life as 'utterly terrible.' Another user noted that before installing iOS 18.4, the remaining battery capacity was 87%, dropping to just 79% afterwards. A third iPhone owner wrote: 'The battery is draining so fast I will have to charge it three times a day during this vacation.' Yet another user stated: 'Stop updating iPhones. It shortens the battery life.'
Apple commented on the situation as follows: 'If you noticed that your iPhone's battery life decreased after an update, wait a few days and then check again. While you can use your iPhone immediately after updating, some tasks related to the update continue in the background and may impact battery life and thermal characteristics.'
