American company Gravitics received a $60 million funding from the US Space Forces to develop an orbital carrier functioning as an 'aircraft carrier' for satellites. The aim of the project is to provide rapid response to space threats. The orbital carrier serves as a non-pressurized module for storing and protecting satellites from extreme space conditions, including temperature fluctuations and radiation.
Gravitics was founded in 2021. The first demonstration mission of the orbital carrier is planned for 2026.
