Companies ispace and Redwire are collaborating within the NASA CLPS program to develop a lunar landing module that will be adapted for US military purposes. Mike Gold, president of civil and international space at Redwire, noted: "Detailed data from these sensors will be key to dominating cislunar space". The military version of the module will receive enhanced supply chain protection and encrypted communication channels. The project reflects the USA's concern over China and Russia's activity on the Moon, fitting into a strategy of militarizing space.
