On April 4, the Russian military launched a missile strike on a residential area of the city of Kryvyi Rih. The attack took the lives of 20 people, nine of whom were children. "This is the deadliest individual attack against children that has been confirmed since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022," said the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). UN High Commissioner Volker Turk noted: "It is an unimaginable horror - nine children died, most of them while playing in a park. The explosion took the lives of 18 people on a warm Friday evening in Kryvyi Rih when families gathered around a playground, restaurant and residential buildings." Seventy-five people were injured. Mourning was declared throughout Ukraine on April 6. In Kryvyi Rih, days of mourning are proclaimed for April 7, 8, and 9.
