The company TSMC announced an increase in the production of 2-nanometer chips at the Fab 21 factory in Arizona, near Phoenix. The company plans to relocate 30% of the output of advanced microprocessors to the USA. TSMC intends to use the factories for producing chips with process technologies of 3-nm, 2-nm and the prospective 1.6-nm (A16). Most of the production of 2-nm and 1.6-nm chips will remain in Taiwan. Currently, Fab 21 produces chips using N4 and N5 process technologies. To achieve its goal of relocating production, TSMC plans to start construction of two new modules by late 2025, with one expected to be operational by 2029. Taiwan remains the key manufacturing hub for TSMC.
