US President Donald Trump told NBC News that he does not warn the leaders of the automotive industry against raising prices in connection with the introduction of tariffs on foreign cars. The White House is preparing to introduce new tariffs on a range of consumer goods on April 2. Trump argues that permanent tariffs on foreign cars will be an incentive for American factories and lead to an increase in sales of American cars.

"I hope they (foreign manufacturers) will raise prices because if they do, people will buy American cars," Trump said. He also noted: "if they want to give us something very valuable."
