Presidents Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan and Sadyr Zaparov of Kyrgyzstan initiated the operation of the Sugd - Datka (500 kV) power transmission line, which connected the energy systems of the two countries. The completion of construction works within the framework of the CASA-1000 project, aimed at exporting electricity from Central Asia to Afghanistan and Pakistan, was completed in 2025. The approximately 480 km long power transmission line connects the Datka substation (Kyrgyzstan) with the Sugd 500 kV substation (Tajikistan). In Kyrgyzstan, 1243 poles were installed, a 456 km power transmission line was constructed, and a 500 kV cell was added to the Datka substation. The line runs through Jalal-Abad, Osh, and Batken regions of Kyrgyzstan up to the border with Tajikistan. Completion of the CASA-1000 project is planned for 2026, green energy will be exported during the summer period to Afghanistan and Pakistan.
