The Shenzhen 8K UHD Video Industry Cooperation Alliance (SUCA) has introduced a new standard for wired media data transmission - General Purpose Media Interface (GPMI). The standard is designed for transmitting 8K video with up to 192 Gbit/s throughput. GPMI comes in Type-B and Type-C variants.

The GPMI cable of type Type-B offers a data transfer speed of up to 192 Gbit/s, and power delivery of up to 480 W. The GPMI cable of type Type-C is compatible with USB-C, has a throughput of up to 96 Gbit/s, and can deliver power up to 240 W.

The HDMI-CEC control standard is supported by GPMI. SUCA was founded in December 2020 with the participation of HiSilicon, Skyworth, KONKA, Tencent, and ZTE.
