Scientists from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China have reconstructed the appearance of a person who lived 16 thousand years ago using modern 3D technologies. The research results are published in the Journal of Archaeological Science.

The remains of the ancient human were found in the Yayu cave on a hill in Bolan village, Longan county, Guangxi province. This is the second Paleolithic burial site discovered within China's territory.

The skull of the ancient person is the only fully preserved late Paleolithic skull in southern China. The reconstructed face has a round shape with narrow eyes, full lips, and a flat nose.
