The company Neuralink, founded by Elon Musk, announced plans to perform the first surgery of implanting a new brain chip called Blindsight towards the end of 2025. The device is designed to restore vision for people with total blindness. Musk mentioned this during his speech in Wisconsin on March 30, 2025.
According to Musk, the initial image resolution of Blindsight will be low, comparable to the graphics of early video games. However, the technology should evolve to achieve 'superhuman' vision levels. The chip stimulates the visual cortex of the brain, bypassing damaged eyes and nerves, making it a potentially revolutionary solution for the blind, including those who were born without sight.
