China and Malaysia issued a joint statement supporting the use of Chinese commercial aircraft models C909 and C919 by Malaysian airlines. The company COMAC has produced models for regional (C909) and long-haul routes (C919). The C909 model is already in use in three Southeast Asian countries - Indonesia, Vietnam, and Laos. The C919 model is currently operated only in China by three major airlines - China Eastern, China Southern, and Air China. The CEO of Malaysia Airlines Group (MAG), Izham Ismail, noted: 'Smaller models like the C909 are perfectly suited for our operations at Subang Airport.' As part of plans to expand its fleet, Malaysia Airlines is actively considering the purchase of COMAC aircraft. Talks with Chinese counterparts have already begun. The largest Malaysian low-cost carrier AirAsia is also in talks with COMAC, alongside Airbus and Embraer, planning to replenish its fleet with no fewer than 100 new aircraft.
