Trade between the Kyrgyz Republic and European countries in January-February 2025 amounted to $142 million, which is 65% lower than the figure for the same period in 2024 ($234 million), according to data from the National Statistical Committee. Exports from Kyrgyzstan to Europe declined by 50% and reached $37.8 million, while imports decreased by 65.6% — to $104.2 million. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov said during a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen: «From 2021 to 2024, trade between the Kyrgyz Republic and European Union countries increased by 2.4 times, while imports increased by 2.6 times and exports by 1.5 times. This was made possible in part by the successful implementation of the common preference system, for which we express our gratitude to our European partners.»
