The Agency for the Regulation and Development of the Financial Market in Kazakhstan has proposed strengthening control over bank cards held by non-residents and cardholders issued in border regions of the country. The goal of the initiative is to eliminate risks associated with illicit drug trafficking, financial pyramids, and transfers to online casinos.

Banks are advised to intensively monitor customers: card holders from border areas, non-residents without a residence permit or permanent residence permission, owners of five payment cards from different banks, and clients aged 14-25 without income sources. Additionally, intensified control will be applied to foreign transfers exceeding $1 thousand.
