The Irkutsk Aviation Plant (IAZ) has completed the development of drilling machines with automatic feed (Boring Machines), which will be used in the assembly of the MS-21 aircraft. These Boring Machines are characterized by their compactness and designed for precise processing of holes at the wing to fuselage joint area. After testing, these machines confirmed their characteristics: they are lightweight, easy to control, and significantly cheaper than foreign counterparts. Domestic Boring Machines provide full control over coolant supply and allow operators to adjust the spindle, making MS-21 aircraft production more economical while maintaining high assembly quality. The price of Boring Machines is three times lower compared to foreign counterparts, and their cutting tools cost half as much. IAZ plans to expand the production of Boring Machines and create all necessary modifications for the subassembly process. These machines are already ready for use and will be applied in the assembly of upcoming MS-21 sets.
