The international youth film festival 'Umüt' in Bishkek will screen the film 'Corn Island', created by Georgi Ovashvili. The film is the second part of a trilogy dedicated to recent Georgian history. It tells about a farmer who moves to an island in a river and starts growing corn there after a flood.

'Corn Island' is a joint production of Georgia, Germany, France, Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, and Hungary. Georgi Ovashvili noted: 'The film expresses my pain and sorrow over what my country had to go through.' The director believes that cinema today should return to its roots, serving the audience and evoking emotions.

The Youth Cinema Forum 'Umüt' has been held annually since 2013 with the support of the Cinematography Department of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund of the CIS Member States. The organizers of 'Umüt' have been thanked for creating a unique platform for youth, wishing them great success.
