European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced a 90-day postponement in implementing countermeasures in response to US tariffs. The statement was made following US President Donald Trump's announcement about suspending for 90 days increased import duties for most countries worldwide.

"We have taken note of President Trump's statement. We want to give a chance to the negotiations," Ursula von der Leyen said.

Earlier, on April 9, the European Commission announced that EU countries support the proposal to introduce tariffs on US goods worth €22 billion. The tariff rates will range from 10% to 25%, applied to a list of products including tobacco, motorcycles, poultry meat, steel, and aluminum.
