The Chinese company COMAC has announced the development of a supersonic passenger airliner model COMAC C949. The new model promises to surpass the flight range of 'Concorde' and Tu-144, reaching up to 11 thousand kilometers against Concorde's 7,500 kilometers. The maximum speed of COMAC C949 is 1,960 km/h. One of the key advantages of the model is reducing noise levels to 83.9 decibels thanks to a unique fuselage shape with an arched middle part and 'reverse sweep'. The main task for developers is creating powerful engines. The project aims to be completed by 2049, when the COMAC C949 model will enter commercial flights.
