The Russian automotive retail market has observed a significant reduction in the number of Chinese car showrooms in the first quarter of 2025, according to research from 'Gazprombank Auto Lease'. During this period, 213 auto showrooms were closed, which is three times more compared to the same period in 2024. The main reasons for closures are linked to a loss of investor interest.
The most closures were recorded for the brands Bestune (26), Kaiyi (20), and Dongfeng/DFM (16). For the first time, Geely, Jaecoo, and Jetour have entered the top-10 list in terms of the number of closures. The leaders by the number of showrooms are Chery (206 dealerships), Geely (199 dealerships), and Changan (200 dealerships). The network of Jetour has decreased by 6%, while Exeed and JAC have decreased by 2%. GAC and Haval show stability.
The sub-brand Haval Pro showed growth, increasing the number of showrooms from 75 to 80. Company KGM opened 24 new dealerships. In total, in the first quarter of 2025, 124 auto dealerships were opened, which is half compared to the same period last year (241). The overall number of sales points for Chinese brands decreased by 87 to 2,700.
