At 16:47 UTC on April 10, 2025, the Long March 3B rocket launched from the Xichang launch center, placing the experimental communication satellite TJS-17 into geostationary orbit. The developer of the spacecraft, Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology (SAST), confirmed the success of the mission and noted that the satellite is intended for "testing multidimensional high-speed communication technology." The launch of TJS-17 completed a trio of missions carried out over five weeks. On March 9, Long March 3B launched TJS-15 into orbit, and on March 29, the Long March 7A rocket placed TJS-16 in orbit. TJS-15 and TJS-16 have already taken positions at 90.3°E and 152.5°E respectively. This launch was China's 19th orbital start in 2025.
