The latest Chinese turbofan engine CJ-1000 will be installed on the passenger aircraft C919 for flight tests. This was reported by the head of COMAC. The engine has already successfully passed tests on a large military transport aircraft Y-20.
“The CJ-1000 engine is undergoing testing, and its results have exceeded my most optimistic expectations,” said Shi Jianzhong, honorary president of the Shanghai Aeronautics Society and former deputy general manager of COMAC. The CJ-1000 was developed as an alternative to the LEAP-1C engine used on the COMAC C919, which is produced by CFM International — a joint venture between French company Snecma and American company GE Aviation.
