The southern province of Hainan will become a key region for the development of commercial spaceflight in China, with a primary focus on developing the Wenchang launch site. This space center will transform into a powerful aerospace cluster where rockets will be launched, satellites and carrier rockets produced, and advanced technologies developed.

The Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site, located on the northeastern part of Hainan Island, has received modern infrastructure for the recovery and reuse of rockets. These technologies allow for significant cost reduction in launches.

The Wenchang launch site was opened in 2016 and became a launching platform for heavy-lift rockets 'Changzheng-5' and modules of the orbital station 'Tiangong'. Its location near the equator allows for easy insertion into orbit. In 2024, the first commercial spaceport began operations here.
