The conciliation commission of AvtoVAZ has appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin asking him to prevent the French company Renault from returning to the Russian market. In a document titled 'Sanctions Have Been Beneficial', it is stated: 'The conciliation commission of AvtoVAZ asks the government and the head of state personally not to let Renault and other deserters who fled Russia back into the country, so as not to threaten the jobs of those who did not leave AvtoVAZ during these difficult times for the company'. Renault left Russia in May 2022. The CEO of the French corporation, Luca de Meo, has allowed for a resumption of business in Russia if a peace agreement is reached over Ukraine. Maxim Sokolov stated: 'The team at AvtoVAZ firmly holds the steering wheel in its hands, and there's no talk about the return of the former partner or even more so about the price of this return'.
