The company Amazon plans to launch 27 Project Kuiper satellites on April 9 from the base at Cape Canaveral in Florida. The United Launch Alliance (ULA) produced Atlas V carrier rocket will place the devices into a low Earth orbit at an altitude of 450 km. The satellites have received improved phased array antennas, processors, solar panels, engines and inter-satellite optical communication systems.
Vice President of Project Kuiper Radhiv Badjal noted: "We conducted numerous ground tests, but some aspects can only be verified in flight. This is the first launch of the final satellite design as well as the first attempt to deploy so many devices at once.">
According to a license from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Amazon must deploy half of the constellation of more than 3,200 satellites by July 2026 and the remaining ones by July 2029.
