By the end of the first quarter of 2025, new passenger car stocks in Russia reached 500 thousand units, said Sergei Tselikov, director of the agency 'Autostat', in his Telegram channel. During January-March 2025, 256 thousand cars (including imports and domestic production) entered the country, of which 247 thousand were sold. Tselikov noted that the decline in demand for cars at the end of 2024 led to the accumulation of unsold cars in the warehouses of manufacturers, distributors and dealers. According to his assessment, 300-350 thousand units of the total stock are Chinese brands, the remaining 150-200 thousand are Russian, pseudo-Russian, Belarusian, pseudo-Korean, and global alternative models. 'Stocks of 2023-2024 cars are gradually decreasing due to sales, but they are being replaced by new 2025 models,' Tselikov noted.
